Macromedia has released Macromedia Flash Player 8.0.22.0 . Normally you would download the setup from "Macromedia Flash Player Download Center for Windows ", but this setup is a considered as a 'legacy' setup. Macromedia however also provides a Full Flash Player MSI setup which needs a little tweaking though, but it can be done by creating a Transform file.
- This Windows Installer setup doesn't provide support for Firefox, it's for Internet Explorer only. However if you add the 'GetFlash.exe', 'GetFlash.manifest' and 'NPSWF32.dll' files from your Firefox plugins directory and "Flashplayer.xpt" from your Firefox Components directory to your Transform file, you can make the integration yourself. Of course you will have to copy these files from a Windows desktop which already has Firefox installed as well the legacy setup of Macromedia Flash (in that order).

- "Macromedia Flash Player 8 Security " is a very important document if you want to deploy Macromedia Flash in the enterprise.
On Windows XP, as an administrator, you can create a textfile called "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg". This mms.cfg can then contain a number of specific settings in order to configure Flash. One of the most important settings is related to updating. By adding "AutoUpdateDisable=1" you switch off the Auto Update feature of Flash. Since we use ZENworks to deploy our applications, this is the most wise thing to do. Now our users will not be bothered with 'New Version' notifications. After creating this "mms.cfg" file, you can add it to a Transform file in order to deploy it during the installation of Flash.
