Adobe has released Adobe Shockwave 11.6.4.634 to address critical vulnerabilities in Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.3.633 and earlier versions on the Windows and Macintosh operating systems. These vulnerabilities could allow an attacker, who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities, to run malicious code on the affected system. Adobe recommends users of Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.3.633 and earlier versions update to Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.4.634 using the instructions provided below.

Adobe recommends users of Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.3.633 and earlier versions update to Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.4.634. More information is available in APSB12-02 and CVE-2012-0757, CVE-2012-0758, CVE-2012-0759, CVE-2012-0760, CVE-2012-0761, CVE-2012-0762, CVE-2012-0763, CVE-2012-0764 and CVE-2012-0766.

At the "Shockwave Player Download Center" you can find a legacy setup by default. But, and this isn't mentioned at all at the download page, if you apply for a 'Adobe Shockwave Player Distribution License' you can get a Windows Installer package instead.

Visit the "Adobe Runtime Licensing" page", scroll to the "Distribute Adobe Web Players" section and click 'Learn More'. Then scroll to the 'Apply for a license section' and click 'License Shockwave Player '.

Create a Adobe membership account if you don't have one (don't be scared ... it's free) by entering an e-mail address. Then login. On the 'Shockwave Player Distribution Downloads' page, you can download three installers:

  • Download Full EXE Installer
  • Download Slim EXE Installer
  • Download MSI Installer

You, of course, need the last link to the 'MSI Installer'. You can test if and which Shockwave version has been installed here.
