AdminStudio Connector

AdminStudio is Flexera’s powerful application packaging software solution. To determine application readiness and repackaging to App-V, MSIX or MSI can be done manually or automated.

Recently Liquit has been asked to provide a proof of concept for a pull connector to AdminStudio 2020’s Application Catalog. ‘Pull’ means pulling data (application packages and its data) out of the Application Catalog in order to create Packages in Liquit Workspace for delivery to Liquit managed devices.

The AdminStudio Application Catalog feature is available in AdminStudio Professional and Enterprise Edition and gives you a secure, transparent storage system for your AdminStudio data. Especially packages used in the enterprise.

Liquit reached out to Flexera and together we’ve built a first connector in PowerShell against AdminStudio 2020. Thank you Bob and Kiran for the support and feedback on this one. It’s always a pleasure to work with you guys.

This POC connector connects to the AdminStudio database and lists all available applications in the Application Catalog:

You can select one or more applications from this list. In the example below seven applications have been selected:

After selecting one or more applications from this list click ‘OK’. The connector gathers all information (name, icon, location, install command line etc.) of selected App-V, EXE, MSI and MSIX packages.

Then this information is used to create Packages in Liquit Workspace. These packages use one Install action set to deliver the setups to a Liquit Workspace managed device and to run the actual installation.

I’ve prefixed the names of these packages with ‘_AS2020_’ to show which ones are coming from the Application Catalog:

Command line parameters defined in the Application Catalog are brought in as the ‘Arguments’ parameter.

We need your feedback on this one in order to start planning building this connector for Liquit Workspace:

Please vote for the AdminStudio Connector on our feedback portal and give us your feedback. We like to learn what specific needs you have for this connector. Then we can review these options, prioritize and plan the development.
